It's going to be OWL-right

 

    Hello there! Michelle here, sharing a hope themed card! I used OWL- Right stamp set and Chain Mail Stencil  in shades of orange.  I inked up the stencil with distress oxides in dried marigold, ripe persimmon, and crackling campfire.

Effects of Orange

Enthusiasm: Orange is optimistic and extroverted - the color of the uninhibited.

Rejuvenation: Orange helps to restore balance to our physical energies.

Stimulation: Orange is not as passionate or as excitable as red, but it is stimulating, particularly to the appetite - the worst color to have in the kitchen if you want to lose weight.

Courage: Orange helps us to take account of our lives, to face the consequences, to take action and make appropriate changes, and then to move onward and upward.

Vitality: Orange has a more balanced energy than red, not as passionate and aggressive, but full of vitality.


I colored the owl clan in similar tones using Copic Markers in shades YR00, YR04, YR07. I embossed the sentiment with copper embossing powder and scattered some copper hued gems.

We're Owl Friends Here - Let's Practice Coloring

Hey crafty friends, it's Amanda from Pear Blossom Press again. Have you been coloring along for the 30 Day Coloring Challenge this month? I have, and the new Owl Right stamp set has a fun image to color. While I was coloring this one, I wanted to practice adding big, bright highlights. 

I stamped my image and colored it with Copic markers, leaving large areas of white space at the top of each face. The eyes weren't standing out enough, so I chose to color over each owl with a very pale marker. Next, I added a pale cool grey to the bottom half of each eye to add dimension. I added shading by outlining the entire image with a warm marker, then blended it out to a pale yellow. I added extra shading with colored pencils.

To assemble the card, I cut the image out with a label die, then die cut the same label out of a panel of kraft cardstock to inlay the image. I taped the pieces together and then popped the panel up on a cream card base with foam tape. I popped up a fishtail banner, embossed with a Sassy Sentiment, with more foam tape, and added a few sequins. A coat of Diamond Glaze over the sequins adds extra shine. Last time I colored this image, I added Diamond Glaze to all of the eyes as well. Take a look here, and let me know which you like better. Flat or glazed?

OWL-Right, Caffeine Please!!


Hello my crafty friends and welcome to The Rabbit Hole Design blog!  My card creation features this fun 4" x 4" stamp set, OWL-Right!  

I thought it would be such fun to add wacky google eye stickers to each of the owls.  It makes them look like they are  totally jones-ing for their morning cuppa joe!


I started by creating a card front using a 4" x 5 1/4" corrugated cardstock and the Drop It stencil.  I used a prepositional spray adhesive on the back of the stencil to keep it in place on the corrugated texture.  Next I used three Distress Oxide inks to create the background.


I stamped  and colored the parliament of owls with alcohol markers and fussy cut them out. I had these fun monster google eyes and I added them to each owl.  I love the look and I think they look like they "need" caffeine!  The coffee cup is a die in my stash and it is the perfect size to hold the owls, but it does not hold enough coffee to get them through the day.


I stamped out the "OWL-right" part of one of the sentiments from the OWL-Right stamp set and grabbed the Caffeinated Shark stamp set sentiment "We're gonna need a bigger cup!"  I stamped them on a yellow cardstock and cut them in strips.


I rounded the edges of the corrugated card front. I glued the owls and coffee cup to the front of the corrugated card front. I added the sentiments using adhesive foam tape an attached the finished cards front to the printed card base.  I also rounded the corners of the card base completing the card.
