Gold Dotted Flower Birthday Card

Hey Everyone! Justin here and today I am sharing a fun project using the new Dotted Flower stencil, part of the Rabbit Hole Designs April 2020 Release!

For this project, I wanted to create something a little different than I usually do. When I was first looking at this stencil, i thought that it could be absolutely beautiful if it was foiled, and I decided to use a color that I rarely do: gold.

Now, first things first. You do need a couple items to foil a project before you start, including a Deco Foil Transfer Sheets, Transfer Gel, a Laminator, and Parchment Paper. The Rabbit Hole Designs shop does have some Deco Foil options available to you for you to add on to your next order!

First, I took a piece of black cardstock and cut it into a 5.375" x 5.375" square. I also had a piece of black and gold metallic patterned paper that I cut into a 5.5" x 5.5" square piece to use later.

I adhered my Dotted Flower stencil with a light tack adhesive to my black cardstock square. Next, I took my Transfer Gel and spread a thin and even layer on-top of my stencil with a palette tool. I removed my stencil and set my black panel aside to dry. Rule of thumb: whenever I need something to dry, I always let it sit undisturbed for a minimum of 30 minutes. This way, I greatly prevent the likelihood of smudging and ruining my project.

While my black cardstock square was drying, I turned on my laminator to warm up and then I began to prepare my sentiment strip. I cut a strip of black cardstock and embossed the sentiment "Don't get all weird about getting older, it's merely the number of years the world has been enjoying you" from the Sassy Birthday set in gold embossing powder. I then framed the sentiment with the same black and gold patterned cardstock.

When my black cardstock square was dry, I placed a sheet of gold Deco Foil on top of it (gold shiny side facing up), and placed the cardstock and foil piece into a folder I made from parchment paper. I ran it through my laminator. Once out, I set it aside for a few minutes to cool down. I removed the Deco Foil Transfer Sheet, and had a beautiful metallic gold Dotted Flower!

I was now in the home stretch, and began putting my pieces together. I adhered my foiled cardstock square to my 5.5" x 5.5" patterned paper square, I adhered my sentiment strip with foam tape, and added a few gold sequins for extra embellishment!

And that's how I made my card!

I used the following products for this project:

Deco Foil Specialty Transfer Sheets
(note: while the specific color foil I used isn't in the Rabbit Hole Shop, there are a few other beautiful options that are the same quality product with so many possibilities!)

You Make My Heart Dance by Niccole

Hello everyone!

It's Nic from Nic & Viv Designs back again to share another card I made using one of The Rabbit Hole Designs new stamp sets.
For today's card I used the Love You More - Heart Dance stamp set, along with the Square Illusion stencil that was released this month.

How to create this card:
  • A2 red card base that is 4.25"x5.5".
  • Apply transfer gel over your stencil on a black card piece and let it dry clear.
  • Add silver foil to your stenciled background and run through your hot laminator.
  • Trim background to 4"x5.25" and apply to your red card base.
  • Add a red stripe across the middle of your background that is 1.5"x5.25"
  • Trim the top and bottom of your red piece with a thin black piece of card stock.
  • Clear emboss you stamped image of the couple dancing from the Love You More - Heart Dance stamp set.
  • Place silver foil over embossed image and run through your hot laminator.  Trim around the couple dancing.
  • Add your trimmed foiled couple from the Love You More - Heart Dance stamp set. I raised them up with foam tape.
  • Add White Nuvo Drops to the center of the squares of the Square Illusion stenciled background.  It adds some dimension to the card.
  • Add a few White Nuvo Crystal Drops randomly to finish the card.
Here is one more picture of the full cards ...

What do you think of the foiled couple? Isn't a neat technique?  It does work better with outline images, but play around ... you never know what you might come up with.

TRHD & Therm-O-Web Collaboration #2

Happy Friday everyone!

Niccole here; I am back with another collaboration post for The Rabbit Hole Designs and Therm-O-Web. This is my second blog post so if you missed the first one you can catch it ... HERE.

You can enter win $25 in Therm-O-Web product. Head on over to their website to find out how.

I am using another one of my favorite stamps from The Rabbit Hole Designs, which is Caffeinated Owl and the Candy Twist stencil. Both are available at Simon Says Stamp and at The Rabbit Hole Designs stores.

This is the Therm O Web Transfer Gel I used for my card along with the Deco Foil Blue Diamond Flock. This flock is so fun to use. It reminds me of those old black fuzzy posters you could color ... remember??

Now onto my card ...
Here is how I made this card:

1. Turn laminator on to really heat it up good
2. Cut and fold a black A2 card base
3.On another black card panel I used my stencil to apply
the Transfer Gel
4. I let the Transfer Gel dry. It's dry when it turns clear
5. Place flock fuzzy side DOWN (very important)
6. Put card with flock on it in carrier sheet
(I use a piece of copy paper folded in half)
7. Run through laminator
8. Peel flock away from card to reveal your FUZZY masterpiece
9. Cut oval to center front of flocked card panel
10. Save cut oval for another fun flocked project
11. Stamp, color, and cut out TRHD Caffeinated Owl image
12. Attach Caffeinated Owl with foam tape
13. Add clear gems around card

*** Make sure not to throw away the negative piece from your flock. You can definitely reuse it . I will be sharing a card really soon using the negative pieces from my foil and my flock.***
Doesn't this Blue Diamond Deco Foil Flock just make you happy? Like I said earlier ... its like one of those fuzzy posters we'd get as a kid and color.

Here is one more look at the full card. I just want to say ... If you have never played with flock; you really should try it. It is so much fun and there are so many possibilities when using Therm-O-Web products.

Therm-O-Web, TRHD and Katie

Heyyyy!  We are collaborating with Therm-O-web this week!  Woohoo!  We have fun creations throughout the week, so keep checking back for more.

I have a fun creation for you today, filled with unicorns, rainbows and foil!

Um... don't you just want to jump into the sparkly, dreamy scene?  Ride a unicorn or two?  Giddy-up! LOL.

And can I draw your attention to the extra sparkle in the background →

OK, so here is how I made this:
  • I started with die cutting the Thanks border on some sticker paper that I had on hand.  The die is from Top Dog Dies (no longer around).
  • Next, I peeled of the backing and applied my Deco Foil Rainbow Shattered Glass directly to the sticky portion. I set this aside.
  • I  repeated this step with the Rainbow Die Set (Trinity).  I die cut the cloud dies from the Cloudy Day Scene Builder Die set in white and set them both aside.
  • Then I stamped my unicorn from The Rabbit Hole Designs Sassy Stamp set on Copic friendly paper.  I colored it and fussy cut it out.  Again, I set this aside.
  • The next step was to place my Candy Twist Stencil (TRHD) on a white card base.  I tacked it down with Pixie Spray.  Then I covered it with Glass Bead Glitter Gel and a palette knife.  (I like to rinse this type of thing off immediately when done so it doesn't stick to the stencil forever).
  • Once the background was dry, I came back in and added my elements; frame, rainbows, clouds and unicorn.
Here is another view:

Well I hope you enjoyed this card!  I loved making it and playing with these products!

PRIZES: Head to Therm-O-Web for your chance at a prize to win a $25 gift card.

Doesn't this Silver Shattered Glass Foil just sparkle? I mean it shines here but trust me this picture does NOT even do it justice. I think it definitely is one of my favorite foil.
This cute pumpkin is floating on the top of the card with foam tape. I love how the hat is gray and it adds to the Silver Shattered Glass foil. Wouldn't you agree?
