OWL-Right, Caffeine Please!!

Hello my crafty friends and welcome to The Rabbit Hole Design blog!  My card creation features this fun 4" x 4" stamp set, OWL-Right!

I thought it would be such fun to add wacky google eye stickers to each of the owls.  It makes them look like they are  totally jones-ing for their morning cuppa joe!

I started by creating a card front using a 4" x 5 1/4" corrugated cardstock and the Drop It stencil.  I used a prepositional spray adhesive on the back of the stencil to keep it in place on the corrugated texture.  Next I used three Distress Oxide inks to create the background.

I stamped  and colored the parliament of owls with alcohol markers and fussy cut them out. I had these fun monster google eyes and I added them to each owl.  I love the look and I think they look like they "need" caffeine!  The coffee cup is a die in my stash and it is the perfect size to hold the owls, but it does not hold enough coffee to get them through the day.

I stamped out the "OWL-right" part of one of the sentiments from the OWL-Right stamp set and grabbed the Caffeinated Shark stamp set sentiment "We're gonna need a bigger cup!"  I stamped them on a yellow cardstock and cut them in strips.

I rounded the edges of the corrugated card front. I glued the owls and coffee cup to the front of the corrugated card front. I added the sentiments using adhesive foam tape an attached the finished cards front to the printed card base.  I also rounded the corners of the card base completing the card.

Caffeine Saves Lives

Hello again Rabbit Hole fans!
It's Lisa back on the blog with you today and I have a short story to share with you.
I recently acquired the Caffeinated Shark stamp
and die and I'm so glad I did! Did you ever not order a stamp because you thought
you wouldn't use it and then see it used on a card and you're sorry you didn't order it?
Well a good purple haired friend of mine calls it FOMO...….
Now for those of you who don't know what that means (I certainly did not)
It means "fear of missing out".....
Well, I'm not missing out anymore, now little sharky is mine and I'm so glad he is!
I really have to start training myself to look at craft supplies in a different way
and see the potential in them.
Ok enough rambling for now, on to my card!
Card Recipe
1)  I usually start by stamping my image with some Copic friendly ink
and coloring with my Copic markers. I loved coloring sharky with my "W"
markers and giving him some fun spots along the way. I used the matching
die to cut him out after he was colored.
2) I covered my card base with some fun water themed patterned paper as a
background for my card.
3) My bubbly frame die cut was the perfect layer over the patterned paper
for little sharky and his fish friends.
4) I stamped the super funny sentiment from Perfectly Blended and
cut it in half.  I then inked the edges of the 2 sentiment strips in blue
to match the card.
5) I foam mounted the fish, sentiment and shark on the card and I'm
picturing the fish being scared of sharky and that the
caffeine is saving THEIR lives! 🤣🤣🤣

Here are the two Rabbit Hole stamp sets I used for today's card:

Caffeinated Shark
Perfectly Blended Clear Stamp 4x6

Tropical Vibes Rocker Card

Hello my crafty friends, it's Amanda from Pear Blossom Press again. Today I'm sharing a rocker card with an extra surprise; there's a pendulum hanging under the Caffeinated Shark, so he sways on the tide as the card rocks.

This is the second card I designed to teach at the Unstoppable Retreat in Seattle this past weekend. (You can find the first one here.) The plan was to film it live, so you'd be able to watch us craft in real time and make one with us if you'd like. Unfortunately, we ran long with the first card and didn't get to do this one together. I passed out kits for this card to all of the attendees and I shot a quick video in my hotel room after. My apologies for the lighting and such; it's so hard to find a hotel that offers a full service filming studio ;)

For this card, you'll need the following stamps and dies (head on over to my blog for links to specific products):
  • Caffeinated Shark Stamp Set
  • Nesting Circle Dies (5½", 1¼", and ¾")
  • Stitched Wave Border Dies
  • Stitched Hillside Border Dies
  • Tropical Dies
  • Scalloped Circle Dies
You will also need a strip of paper that measures ¼" x 2½" and a penny to create the pendulum. The hardest part was die cutting all of the pieces. Which, to be honest, isn't actually hard, just time consuming. Especially, when you are cutting for 30 cards. I'd really like to thank the awesome ladies that sat around the dining room table with me the night before class and helped me finish cutting the pieces, Alison, Robin, Ernylee, Rachel, and Brianne, you ladies are fabulous!!!

I have to take a second to gush a little about the retreat...it was so much fun! I got to meet several of my online friends in person, and a whole new group of amazing ladies that I now get to call friends too! We were in a gorgeous setting and had a wonderful time crafting, chatting, laughing, and forging new friendships. We shared great meals and silly jokes all day, and funny stories and cocktails all night. I can't wait to do it again next year! A great big thanks to Beth Duff for organizing the retreat, and The Rabbit Hole Designs for being one of the generous sponsors. I was so happy to show off some of their fun stamps in my class!

Thanks for stopping by today; I'll be back again soon with another fun card for you!

I Love You Very Matcha

Hello crafty friend, it's Amanda from Pear Blossom Press again! I hope you're still hopping along with the Coffee Loving Cardmakers' Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop! Today, I'm back with another fun card featuring the Caffeinated Shark. This time instead of making a coffee card, I created a tea themed card. I made this card for my sister, and although she loves coffee, she has been on a tea kick lately so I thought it would be appropriate.

This card was really easy to create with the help of a pre-made card base and a few dies. I started by splattering some watered down Forest Moss Distress Oxide ink onto the 5½" kraft card base and set it aside to dry. Next, I die cut a 4½" white circle for the saucer, and a 3¼ white circle for the bottom layer of the mug. I nested together the 3¼" and 3" circle dies and cut three frames to create the rim of the mug. I also die cut a small tag shape to look like the top of the handle.

Before gluing the mug layers together, I ink blended some Forest Moss and Old Paper Distress Oxide waves onto the bottom layer of the mug to look like an ocean of Matcha (green tea). I didn't have a wave stencil, but I did have a set of wave border dies, so I created my own stencil by cutting the borders out of a scrap of cardstock. Then, I used warm grey Copic markers to add some shading to the white cup and saucer layers. To assemble the mug, I glued the tag under the Matcha layer and then popped them up onto the saucer with thin fun foam. I glued the three rim layers on top of the Matcha, making sure the shaded piece was on top.

Next, I stamped and embossed the Caffeinated Shark. I colored him with Copic markers and then cut him out with my ScanNCut. I left a narrow white border so I wouldn't loose the little squiggles of his hair. Then I glued him on top of the Matcha layer of the mug.

To finish up the card, I lined the mug up on top of the card base to figure out the placement for my sentiment. I used my Misti to pick up the sentiment and curved it around the saucer. Then, I stamped and embossed the sentiment onto the card base. Isn't it sweet? It's from the new Perfectly Blended set. After the sentiment was done, I just glued the saucer in place. I love the subtle texture and shine the embossing gives this card.

If you enjoyed today's card and are looking for more caffeinated inspiration, you might like this post. Before you go, let me know which of the caffeinated critters is your favorite. One lucky commenter will win a special prize today! If you'd like links to specific products I used, head over to the sister post for this card on Pear Blossom Press.
