Not All Witches Ride Brooms

Greetings! Alison here. Did you know that not all witches ride brooms? Some ride bicycles! Today, my card uses the Bicycle Witch from The Rabbit Hole Designs, and this marks my last post for The Rabbit Hole Designs Team. I have had an amazing time being on this team, and I look forward to seeing what they'll have next. This is an incredible group of very talented and kind people, and I am so happy to say that I've become friends with them.

Sometimes I like to just sit and create backgrounds. Sometimes they're mono prints, sometimes they're with Distress Oxides, sometimes they're with alcohol inks, etc. I wanted my witch to appear like she was moving, so I used an alcohol ink background that I made some time ago, where I just swiped colors across some glossy photo paper.
I colored my witch and her little kitty with Copics, using some bright colors that worked really well with my alcohol inked background. This wasn't planned, as I chose the background after I had finished coloring the witch.
I added a sentiment with StazOn, a mat of Bo Bunny cardstock with cute teal dots, and put everything on to a gray card base. But she needed some sparkle, of course, so I added some sequins from a few different Sparkle Blends from Doodles Paper Playground coming off the back of the bicycle, as if she was leaving a trail of magic behind.
I love the colors on this card. This is definitely not a witch to fear, and I like that about all of the witches from TRHD. I want to thank The Rabbit Hole Designs for having me on their amazing Design Team over the last few months. I had a blast, and will truly miss working with them. Green Witch

Hello! Alison here. I'm hoping that by now you've checked out the August Release for The Rabbit Hole Designs. This release is all about witches, and if you know me at all, you know that makes me very happy! My card today uses the Cocktail Witch stamp set, and she's just fab!

 I colored her with Copic markers, using some really pretty shades of green, and then I layered her on to a glittery circle I had made previously.
I found a cool chevron paper in my stash, and inked the edges with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink. I also added my sentiment from the same stamp set and some pretty sequins from the Nebula Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground.
I mounted everything on to a gray card base, which I really like to use for Halloween cards.
I like that you can choose to make really cool background scenes for this witch, but you can also opt to do what I did and just work with scraps. She's a fun little witch, isn't she? For more details on this card, please visit my blog HERE. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Neon Trees

Hello! It's Alison Heikkila. I really enjoy making holiday cards in non-traditional colors. Today, I decided to go neon. Yup, neon. I used the fun Slice of Christmas Stencil, as well as the Broken Glass stencil. 

I have 3 of the Rina K Glitz Glitter Gels from Therm O Web, and I thought the trees from the Slice of Christmas stencil would look great in these vibrant colors. I put all 3 on white cardstock and fussy cut them once they were dry.


I didn't want to create a scene for this card, and of course I wanted the trees to be the focus, so I decided to apply some blue ink to the Broken Glass Stencil and die cut it in a circle. This sort of "cooled off" the "heat" of the neons a bit.


Now I needed a background, and I really wasn't sure what direction I wanted to go in. I was chatting with my son about it (if you have visited my blog before, you probably know that he is also a crafter and has a great eye for design), and we thought I should check out the stash of backgrounds I have accumulated. I found this one, which is Distress Oxides on glossy photo paper. The chalky finish of the oxides rubs off to leave the most vibrant, beautiful colors. It was perfect for my neon trees. I needed a sentiment too, so Phoenix suggested I used the "Peace" from the Old School Tattoo-Affirmation stamp set with a bright color, so I used Vivid Green Embossing Powder from Stampendous on white cardstock. I adhered everything to a white card base, and popped up the green tree with foam squares.

This card is so fun and bright! I love how it turned out. The trees are so whimsical, they really lend themselves to these unnatural colors, and the background helps them really pop. Thanks for stopping by. Have an inspiring day!

Reindog

Hello Rabbit Hole Fans! Alison here with a shaker card that uses the new Pawlidays stamp set. This card is super cute and festive!
I decided to work only with the pup in the reindeer costume, so after I stamped and colored him with Copics, I carefully fussy cut him out.

I made my shaker next, simply by die cutting several oval frames out of red cardstock, stacking them together and adding acetate. I filled it with the new Merry Mint Sparkle Blend from Doodles Paper Playground, which was created specifically for a collaboration with The Rabbit Hole Designs. Be on the lookout for that collaboration starting next week!
I backed the window with some old patterned paper that reminded me of the TRHD stencil called Diamond Flower, which is one of my favorites from TRHD. I inked it up with Mowed Lawn Distress Ink and of course one of the new Cotton Tail Blending Brushes. They work incredibly well! You can see the varying depth of color I was able to get on my background. Then I added my sentiment and a few additional Sparkle Blends to the top layer of my card. I popped the Reindog up on the left so that he would be even with the shaker window.

Never Underestimate the Power of Love

Hello! Alison here with a new card featuring the Ribbon Star stencil from The Rabbit Hole Design's June release.

I really wanted to create a Pride card using this fun stencil, so I painted my background using several Dylusions sprays, allowing the colors to blend together. Then, I applied copper stencil paste on to the dry panel with the Ribbon Star stencil attached.

After I let the paste dry, I stamped my sentiment in black, which is from the Old School Tattoo- Affirmation stamp set. It's one of my favorite stamp sets from The Rabbit Hole Designs.
I created a black card base, but I thought it needed some shine, so I painted on some gold watercolor to frame my rainbow panel.
This card is actually very quick to create....you just have to wait for everything to dry. I really love how the stenciled image stands out against the vibrant background. It would be fun to try this with other color combos too, but I really wanted something for Pride for this card.

I'd Give You the Moon

Hello! Alison here with a card using a couple of the newest release items from The Rabbit Hole Designs. I really love the June release's theme of outer space, as I have always enjoyed learning about it. So working with these stamps and stencils is a win for me!

I used the Space- Infinity and Beyond stamp set as my jumping off point. I really wanted to do something with just the moon, so I inked only that up (and used some tape to mask off the string) and stamped it repeatedly using Silvery Shimmer Delicata Ink on black cardstock. Also from that stamp set is my sentiment, which I heat embossed with silver powder on purple cardstock.
I really wanted an all-over star pattern in my background so I applied the new Aim for the Stars stencil a couple of times to cover my gray cardstock. I used VersaMark ink and then applied a glittery purple embossing powder to give it some sparkle and shine. I also added some purple ink to my white card base to tie the purples together.

Holographic Ribbon Star Stencil

Hello! Alison here! Today I have a card that features the new Ribbon Star Stencil. I am so in love with it! I knew immediately that I need to experiment with different foils, and today's card features a holographic one.

I applied a stencil medium that works with foils to a panel of black cardstock. After it dried, I foiled it in my laminator.
I love the sentiments and the cow from the new Infinity & Beyond stamp set, so I heat embossed them with silver. Take a look at those beautiful flashes of color on the foil!
I mounted my panel on to a black card base, and added a piece of metallic washi tape to the right side.
This card is pretty clean and simple, but I think that the holographic foil speaks volumes. I really love this new stencil and I look forward to experimenting with it using other techniques. Don't Bug Me Shaker

Hello! Alison here! I have a new card to share with you today that uses the praying mantis from the "Buggy for Caffeine" stamp set. 

This poor fella is so sleepy that he's got 2 cups of coffee! And, he's about to spill some of it out of one of them.
I colored the praying mantis with Zig Clean Color markers, and to help him wake up...I used sequins that's super bright and cheery. Do you think it's going to help? I also added a sentiment and the chemical symbol for caffeine on my background.

C-ant Before Coffee

Hello Rabbit Hole Designs Fans! Alison here! What did you think of the new release? Isn't it fabulous? Today, I have a card that features the ant from the Buggy for Caffeine stamp set. I bet we'll be seeing a lot of these bugs soon, because they are just so funny!
I always start by coloring my character/flower/etc, and then that helps me determine how the rest of the card will go. I colored him with Zig Clean Color Markers.
I found a scrap of an alcohol ink background that I made some time ago, plus some cool brown patterned paper that I thought mimicked the tunnels ants create. The card needed some shine, so I added some fun metallic washi tape as well.
I added a few additional details (of course I needed to add the chemical symbol for caffeine), and this card was done.
These new critters from the Buggy for Caffeine set really crack me up. I love that the ant not only is holding a pot of coffee, but two mugs as well! The new release is up and available at The Rabbit Hole Designs website. Below is the stamp set that I used.

Glitzy Tattoo Icons


Hello, everyone! Alison here! Today, I've got a card that uses the Dice & Diamond stamp set, as well as the Tattoo Icons stencil. Both are from The Rabbit Hole Designs April 2020 release. I love how cool, fun, and easy to work with the Old School Tattoo collection is.
I needed lots of sparkle for this project, so after I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the focal image from the Dice & Diamond stamp set, I stamped the diamond again on to silver glitter cardstock, cut that out, and mounted it on to my original piece. For the fabulous Tattoo Icons stencil, I used Gold Glitz Glimmer Gel on black cardstock, which really makes those images stand out.

I added a few more simple details, such as the sentiment and this card was done! I really love how simple the layout is, but also how graphic it is. The Old School Tattoo collection is a blast to work with, and I look forward to showing you more creations that use it.
